Frequently Asked Questions

Why Are You Called “Blue Sock” Divorce?

I received a package in the mail at the worst point in my volatile divorce. Inside was a pair of blue socks with a note from my long time dear friend. The note said, “Wear these socks whenever you need to be reminded of who you are. I have a matching pair and will be wearing them in solidarity when you go to court. When you wear them. let it be a reminder of your strength and integrity. You are seen and loved..” That pair of socks became my reminder to hold onto myself. To stay grounded, with my feet firmly on the ground, no matter how stormy things became. I have multiple pairs now and those socks and the symbolism they convey were the motivation and foundation for Blue Sock Divorce. All Blue Sock attendees are encouraged to grab their own pair. I wear them regularly, in solidarity, with all those going through a volatile divorce.

Why Do You Compare Divorce To A Hurricane?

Divorce can range from being agreeable and friendly to devasting and hateful. Not all divorce is the same and the severity varies greatly. Similar to hurricanes, you can predict/guess the trajectory of a divorce. Identifying the category of your divorce can help you prepare and ready yourself. As with the weather - it can change at anytime and surprise you. Preparing, being flexible & knowing there will be some clean up at the end of the storm is a powerful perspective to help you through.

What Is Considered A ‘High Conflict/Volatile Divorce?

Category 4 and 5 are considered high conflict and volatile. The most unpredictable is a category 3. This category can change course at anytime. Sometimes it calms down and dissipates. But sometimes it will intensify and become destructive. Click the link to find out which category your divorce is and what to do about it.
